Westerkerk
The tallest church tower in the old city, its blue imperial crown above the Prinsengracht.
- About
- Tower finished in 1638
- From the boat
- The skipper stops for the carillon on the quarter hour
Hendrick de Keyser designed the church, and his son finished the tower in 1638. Rembrandt is buried somewhere inside; no one knows exactly where.
From the water you see the tower rise straight over the Prinsengracht, and on the quarter hour the carillon plays.
